Must See in Lima, Peru

On my journey home from Bolivia, I made a pit stop in Lima. I have compiled some of the places I went to while I was in Lima.

Destinations:

Historic Centre

Lima’s Historic Centre was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by UNESCO.

Plaza San Martin

In this plaza, there is a statue of San Martin on a horse.

Lima Main Square

The Main Square, also known as Plaza de Armas is the heart of Lima. The center includes the Government Palace, Town Hall, Archbishop’s Palace, Casa Riva-Aguero, and the Lima Cathedral.

San Francisco de Asis Museum & The Catacombs

The catacombs in Lima is the largest cemetary second to the one in Paris. Before cemetary was created, prists and Lima’s residents were buried here. It is believed that 25 thousand human bodies were interred here.

Where to Eat:

Lunch: Republica del Pisco – Miraflores

→ Calle Bolívar 215, Miraflores 15074, Peru

This feels more like a dinner spot with its intimate gathering vibe. The restaurant has multiple rooms. I was seated in a room with a large bar area and multiple tables around it. The restaurant serves delicious food and cocktails. They are known for their cocktails as they have countless flavors for their pisco sours and chilcanos. I ordered their lomo saltado for s/44. For drinks, they had two drinks for s/26 special. Since it was my first day in Peru, I decided to order the original lime flavor and my favorite flavor, passionfruit. They deliver both drinks at the same time.

Lunch: El Pacifico

→ Pje. de José Olaya 114, Lima 15001, Peru

I stumbled upon this restaurant since I was curious about the protest nearby. I asked one of the workers outside and he explained to me some of the issues faced in Lima. He then chose this opportunity to bring me in. The food was just okay but it was cheap. Most of the people inside felt like locals. I ordered chicken fritos for s/30 and pisco sour original s/15.

Dinner: Pardos Chicken

→ Av. Alfredo Benavides 730, Miraflores 15048, Peru

Pardos Chicken is a large restaurant that sells cheap grilled and rotisserie chicken. I ordered the  Pardos Brasa 1/2 that comes with french fries or salad for s/46.90. They were kind and gave me both salad and french fries.

Dinner: Pizza Time

I am not 100% sure what the name is but it is located next to the Republica of Pisco. I had a personal-sized pizza and a cocktail concoction by the server. The food was mediocre but interesting vibe with all of the paintings on the walls.
